I started quilting back in 1983. I had been a working Mom, and we were going to move to Africa and I didn’t know what I was going to do with myself. My sister’s answer to that; was to teach me how to quilt. My sister is a professional seamstress, so just learning to quilt meant you learned to do it all, every step of the way. You didn’t just run down to the local quilt shop and pick up a pattern. She taught me how to design my own blocks using graph paper, make the template and hand sew everything together, then quilt it by hand. It was the best start I could have had, a great foundation to build on. I was hooked ever since.
In 2005 I was laid off from my corporate job as the Director of Information Systems. Having all the kids gown, Terry and I wanted to move out to Fort Davis full time. We had a mountain top cabin waiting for us. I decided to buy a longarm and start a business so I could work from home. I started quilting for customers a month after I prechased my Gammill Optimmun, that was close to 3 years. Now I would like to expand my business services. I love to quilt and to design quilts on the computer. So we talked about it, and decided the internet was the way to go.
Welcome to Apache Mountain Design, its going to be a great year.
